Sh’ing’zo’lo Homework Break: Figure Study #1

Ah, I need to go to/just do life drawing more often.  So fun. :)  Also, yes, that’s me.

Sh’ing’zo’lo Homework #3: Skeletons…

Ooh, scary prompt! :P  This week’s homework was to include a skeleton in whatever you decide to create, so, here’s mine.  Enjoy!

Shing(laur)z Homework: Assignment #2

Pick an obscure fairy tale and illustrate something from it or design the characters!  I picked The Juniper Tree, a rather creepy story: a woman who wishes for a child beneath a juniper tree, but dies just after her wish comes true and she gives birth to a son.  Her husband remarries a wonderfully horrid woman who loves her own daughter and hates her stepson.  One day he asks for an apple from a large chest and she decapitates him with the lid.  The fun continues from there!!! :D  Click the link above to read the whole story!  I’m glad it was my turn to suggest this, I’ve been wanting to adapt this story into a comic for a really long time.

I didn’t get to design every character, but I did manage to draw Father, Stepmother, and Brother.  I decided to make them Medieval (16th century, in this case) German nobility, nearly royalty.  The funny thing about high-class families?  They dressed their children up as mini versions of themselves, so it’s kind of easy to draw medieval rich kids because they look like their parents, no extra references required. :P  Also, enjoy attempting to read my notes, I take a lot. :D
